Squalane has the molecular formula of C30H62 and is the hydrogenated form of squalene. Squalene is component of human sebum at a concentration of about 10%. Squalane is also present in human sebum but at a lower concentration. Squalane oil is absorbed deep into the skin leaving no oily film-with amazing quickness.
Squalane helps heal skin cracks, which are a significant health issue in the winter as germs can easily enter the body through cracked fingers/hands that have dried out from cold conditions. Squalane has these unique abilities because the oil is a major factor in natural skin lubrication. This valuable lipid is extremely compatible with the skin and is safe for all skin types. The Squalane used in Maui Nani products is produced from olives.
